The Guiding Light2Have you ever read a book that was so good, you didn't want it to come to an end? This would be the book that was so compelling, captivating, interesting and beautifully written, you simply wanted to continue to turn it's pages. Well, that's what we get to do with life.

As the chapters of life build on one another and the circumstances, the plot, and the characters that interact with us may change, the book never ends. For some reading this, they may think sheeesh, how long must I go on?

stop worryI'm happy much of the time, because I like how it feels. I do things I love because it's fulfilling. I hang around people that move me in some way, because I enjoy connection. I especially love to laugh, so I do things that are fun and playful. I work with clients that I enjoy. I speak on topics that get me excited.

One thing I don't do is worry since it does not align with feeling good and enjoying my life. I saw a quote this morning about worry that grabbed my attention in the moment and stuck with me all day ......"Worrying is using your imagination to create something you don't want".

secrets to life

After helping scores of people find sustained joy and peace over the last few decades, we thought we’d summarize a few key concepts that will bring you what you want.  No kidding.  These are million dollar truths.  It’s worth paying someone to learn how to apply these concepts in real life:

1.    Live from gratitude.  There will always be disappointments because we make up what we think will make us happy, and when life doesn’t meet those expectations, we have set ourselves up to feel bad.  This does not mean you shouldn’t have goals or wants.  It does mean you don’t let your happiness depend on achieving those wants.  It’s fun to want, and fun to achieve, but prolonged happiness is not related to either of them.

The Guiding LightIt was only a few months ago when the new year opened its door and invited us to mindfully enter so we could assess what changes we wanted to experience in 2016. In order to make these improvements, many of us paused to take stock of  ourselves such as in how we were showing up in our work, our relationships, our health habits, and life in general.

Unfortunately, many of us take this new year tradition as a time to scrutinize ourselves to the point that all we can see is our faults. A few months or perhaps even a few weeks into the new year, many of the intentions and resolutions we promised ourselves are forgotten, although we can still clearly remember all of our faults and shortcomings that we intended to correct.
