The Fear DragonAbout 13 years ago, I had a dream, which changed my life.

I was in the form of my little girl self. I had long dark hair in braids, dressed in shorts and a red checked top. I was happily playing at an amusement park with an adult version of myself.

There was no discernible difference between my child and adult self, spiritually speaking. We had equal amounts of joyful bliss as we skipped from attraction to attraction and rode the rides.

After some time, we came to a long slide that my child self had to ride alone. I was terrified since there was a huge fire-breathing dragon waiting for me at the bottom.

Riding the Roads of LifeEarlier today I had the experience of driving a loaner car that was very different from the kind of ride to which I have become accustomed. This required adjustment, in both my attitude and my expectations.

As I floored this VW Beetle on the freeway, urging it to get up to the speed limit, the unfamiliarity and discomfort as if I was trying to live my life in another physical body and with a different perspective, struck me. Kate’s car, GRACE

The metaphor that laid out in front of me on the open road was striking. When driving my own vehicle,  I am accustomed to getting up to speed quickly. I am accustomed to comfort and yes, even some luxuries.

Bright Idea FileI tend to develop a lot of what I call, bright ideas. These tend to mostly be ideas that would serve our business, although some are related to fun activities I could do with family and friends.

Since these bright ideas pop up unexpectedly, including times when I do not have the time to implement them, I add them to a file on the desktop of my Mac, called my Bright Idea File. Photograph by Dennis Fisher

Examples of my bright ideas may include interactive activities we can do in our business trainings, party theme ideas, recipes to try, places I want to travel, bucket list activities and topics to write about.

Self LoveSince being introduced to coaching, being coached as well as being a coach, I have learned a secret to being happy unconditionally and that is knowing and loving myself.

If you don’t know and naturally appreciate the gift of who you are how could you possibly fully give of your natural gifts? It isn’t boastful or self-centered to know and love yourself, it is the opposite.

The more comfortable we are with the natural qualities we were born with, the more easily we can share them and hopefully create a positive impact on others.

If we hide behind modesty, protesting positive attention because we are unworthy, it is like saying, “I am nothing. I mean nothing. I have nothing to share.”
